2015 March for Justice- 100 Years

2015 March for Justice- 100 Years

On Friday, 24 Apr 15, a large march took place in Los Angeles. Between 100,000 and 130,000 people took part in the Armenian Genocide March for Justice, which signifies a global demand for justice by Armenians worldwide and all people of good will.

The actual march started in eastern Hollywood, (Little Armenia), and made its way to Wilshire Blvd, heading towards the Turkish Consulate. The march passed several LA landmarks, including the Hollywood Strip and the La Brea Tar Pits. A stage had been set up just past/west of the consulate building- several musical acts and speeches were performed there, with a mass of dignitaries on hand as well.

The photos above and from the previous post are be from this event.

And here’s to the shame that yet another President has brought, by refusing to call genocide a genocide.

November 14th, 2012 – The Berlin Wall in Los Angeles

The Berlin Wall in Los Angeles

The Berlin Wall in Los Angeles along Miracle Mile

As you drive along Wilshire Boulevard in West Los Angeles, along Museum Row in the Miracle Mile region, you can see the largest piece of the Berlin Wall outside of Germany. This is a photograph showing the front of it, which faced West Berlin. Large portraits of John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan are the most noticeable artwork, but there is a wealth of modern art alone the stone face of this monument to division, and then, breaking free.

As the Berlin Wall was torn town in mid-November of 1989, a brief glimpse of it seem appropo.

Miracle Mile, Wilshire Lightcycles

A long aperture shot taken on Wilshire Blvd at Miracle Mile in West Los Angeles; reminds me of the lightcycles from Tron. Great light jetwalls running along the road near the La Brea Tar Pits and the SAG headquarters.
