19th Feb 2018 – Time of the Past

Time of the Past

Time of the Past

Photograph showing the inner workings of an ancient clock that was on display at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art several years ago. Built during the Renaissance in (I believe) the Venice region, the clock apparently is still functional, (though it was not running while on display- understandably since that would put strain on it).

Richard Hatch, Lifetime Achievement

Snapshot of Richard Hatch, long-time actor and surfer (whom I was privileged to be acquainted of) accepting a Lifetime Acheivement Award from the International Television Festival. Sadly, Richard passed away exactly 1 year and 1 day ago. I wanted to post this photo of him as a small homage to someone who embodied caring and genuine class.

25th Dec 2017 – LeVar and the Rhino

LeVar and the Rhino

Shortly after publishing the children’s book, The Rhino Who Swallowed a Storm, LeVar Burton had a read-along and question/answer session at the Barnes and Noble in The Grove in Los Angeles. This picture is from that read-along; and I’ll be honest, its hard to get better than the man behind The Reading Rainbow himself narrating a book he wrote, (especially when he’s such a fixture in so many shows I like as well).

Sidenote- the book is fantastic, and helps kids understand some of the painful feelings that are a part of life- highly recommended!!

Close-up photograph of a hanging, classic-style incandescent bulb before the backdrop of Downtown Los Angeles.

I like the interplay of the classic light with the modern city skyline in the background…

Discovery Has Landed – Sasha-Michael

Last Tuesday, the new Star Trek series, Discovery, had a red carpet event at the Arclight in Hollywood. The cast of Star Trek: Discovery was there, as were numerous other ST alums; and yours truly was also on hand to get some shots from a fairly unique vantage, (I know, because there weren’t many people where I was =p)

Let’s start with Sonequa Martin-Green, late of The Walking Dead (remember how Sasha suddenly got a death wish…?), now taking off to the stars…

31st Jul 2017 – Sky Through the Sea

Sky Through the Sea

Sky Through the Sea

At the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles (by the USC campus), there is a large aquarium that reaches up to the natural light above, and has several vantage points, (some large, some small). This shot was taken from what appeared to be a somewhat isolated “cove” of the small sea, mostly cut off by the rocks and with a more vertical view port than most. However, you can see the sun shining in from above… a rather tranquil scene.
