As mentioned a few times previously, one of the quirks of Los Angeles is that when fireworks go off around America to celebrate Independence Day (or New Year’s), since the city is so spread out, that fireworks demonstrations erupt all over the city. You can see skybursts down amongst the city skyline, as well as one much closer from a neighborhood celebration.

Every year, fireworks go off around America to celebrate Independence Day- one of the quirks of Los Angeles is, since the city is so spread out, that fireworks demonstrations erupt all over the city, instead of in isolated areas, (i.e., over the Detroit River or in New York harbor). This shot was captured this year looking out from West Hollywood towards Downtown Los Angeles, (well, a little to the north…)

Set up the camera on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles in the center island, directly adjacent to the La Brea Tar Pits at night, facing East (towards downtown LA), and captured some long exposure photographs. You can see the Screen Actors Guild (now SAG-AFTRA) building in the foreground, as well as the G4 & E! Entertainment offices and the outdoor seating for The Counter.
