July 4th, 2011 ~ Fireworks

Fireworks over the Colorado

4th of July Celebration, 2010

Happy Independence Day!

A photo from last year’s celebration on the Colorado river near Laughlin, NV, by the Pipa Aha Macav Tribe of the Mojave Nation. A great mix of new and fading fireworks, and if you look closely at the reflection, well, I’ll let you see for yourself…

See you Wednesday!

July 1st, 2011 ~ Reagan’s Remembrance

Machinac Bridge, June 5th, 2004 by Mysidian Moments

Half-Staff at Michilimackinac in honor of Reagan's Passing

This picture was taken on June 5th, 2004. I happened to be in Northern Michigan at the time, looking for interesting angles on the Machinac Bridge when I heard Ronald Reagan had passed. Now, I should point out, I may not be a fan of his, but he was a much better and more reasonable person than critics and his supposed partisans make out nowadays. But as I heard the news, a color guard came to lower the flag shown here.

The solitary image of the flag at half-staff at one of America’s great architectural feats seemed an appropriate image to commemorate the passing of an American Statesman.
