Richard Hatch, Lifetime Achievement

Snapshot of Richard Hatch, long-time actor and surfer (whom I was privileged to be acquainted of) accepting a Lifetime Acheivement Award from the International Television Festival. Sadly, Richard passed away exactly 1 year and 1 day ago. I wanted to post this photo of him as a small homage to someone who embodied caring and genuine class.

It looks like Kat’s gonna take out Starbuck’s Viper for a joyride… oh, we’re gonna have a brawl in the pilot’s lounge tonight!

May 5th, 2014 – The Sacred Scrolls

The Sacred Scrolls

The Sacred Scrolls

The Sacred Scrolls of the faith of the Lords of Kobol, used on-screen in Battlestar Galactica. This is the form of the scrolls I personally prefer visually, even though I would like a book version as well for more practical reading.

The Sacred Scrolls are a set of writings that form the basis of Colonial religion, a polytheistic faith resembling the legends of ancient Greece. The scrolls record much of the alleged history of humanity, including life on Kobol before the great exodus, and the legend of Earth. Portions of the scrolls are used in religious ceremonies, such as the Service for the Dead.

Most notable among the Sacred Scrolls is the Book of Pythia, also referred to as the Pythian Prophecy. Written 3,600 years ago by the oracle Pythia, they are believed by some to foretell the current exodus from the Twelve Colonies of Kobol.

Another photograph from the Battlestar Galactica auction in Pasadena, California. This shot feature the Viper Mark VII, a new addition to the 2003 reimagining of the show, being the advanced model of the fighter craft of the Colonial navy. This screen used prop has a wingspan of 14′, measuring 30′ long by 13’6″ tall, with an approximate weight of 2,400 pounds.

Before the Battlestar Concert in Downtown LA got its proper start, the two vocalists, Brendan McCreary and Raya Yarbrough had to warm up. These shots are of them getting ready to rock the show.

(Yes, these pictures were chosen since Brendan’s band, Young Beautiful in a Hurry, had their album release party Saturday)

BSG Concert Downtown LA

Battlestar Galactica Concert in Downtown Los Angeles

This concert was an absolutely incredible affair- putting aside the fact that I am a huge BSG fan, (seriously, drama in a scifi setting- don’t let the name slow you down from trying it), the music is just amazeballs… hearing it live, in a great venue, with grande acoustics- wow. (Seriously, YouTube it- there might be some black market copies of the full concert, but realistically, because that was a no-no, YouTube’s where to see snippets of it)

I had arrived early and grabbed a great spot- seriously, look at it- high, but not too high, center mass- let me see straight onto the stage, got a great sound, and was able to take some amazing shots too- this is the teaser shot, more than anything, but also gives a feel of the concert venue. (Most of the seating was below, directly below, or on the side in front but below frame)

@bearmccreary needs to have more of these…
